To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have 3+ years of related experience, including manufacturing environments. In addition, to be a good fit for the EHS Specialist opportunity, you will have:

• Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience implementing EHS programs and processes is preferred

Reporting to EHS Manager, you will oversee EHS activities on the night shift, including helping develop and maintain effective environmental, health, and safety (EHS) processes through risk reduction strategies and management system implementation. You'll interact extensively with production supervisors and team members. While you will have responsibility for all aspects of the role, you'll focus on health and safety.

• Supporting all aspects of EHS and sustainable development programs
• Improving EHS workplace performance by promoting an incident-free work place, identifying and mitigating EHS risk, and implementing safety and environmental management systems in accordance with regulations, corporate compliance policies, and ISO standards
• Determining and directing necessary environmental and safety training for employees and ensuring compliance and understanding
• Guiding and directing assigned business units toward compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations, and corporate compliance policies
• Facilitating and engaging business unit teams and team members to drive projects that will lead to reductions in accidents, energy, water usage and waste minimization
• Ensuring timely submittal of required federal, state and local environmental and safety regulatory reports

As the sole EHS resource on the night shift, you will need to be resourceful and self-sufficient. Support will be available, but you should be able to solve problems and handle situations that may arise. Once the facility is fully staffed, there may be as many as 150 employees on nights, so you will need to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. We're looking for a professional who can take the bull by the horns and do what is needed.

Your EHS knowledge will be essential, but just as important will be your leadership and influencing skills. You'll help manage a fair amount of change.
