To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Quick question for you - click here   In addition, to be a good fit for the Electrical Engineer opportunity, you will have:
  • 5-8 years of experience working as an electrical engineer; we will consider candidates with as little as 3 years of experience if that experience was in the automotive, RV or a related industry.
  • Automotive electrical knowledge
  • Automotive electrical design experience is required
  • Strong computer skills including:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
    • 3D SolidWorks strongly preferred
    • 2D AutoCAD preferred
  • Knowledge of relays, Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), fabrication techniques; ability to do circuit design layout
  • Familiar with FMVSS requirements preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and testing skills desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively work and communicate with different levels and titles within the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Reporting to the Advanced Engineering Manager, as Electrical Engineer, you will function as a project design engineer and be responsible for managing design projects and bills of materials for the Electrical Engineering team. 

You will join a team of eight engineers, including Mechanical and Design Engineers, and yourself,  working on a wide range of projects. We have two senior engineers leading and assigning projects and you will take full ownership of your responsibilities. While you'll collaborate with the team and keep your eye on the goals of each project, you will also work independently, including a good deal of work in SolidWorks. Additionally, you will:
  • Embrace and support Utilimaster Corporate policies and procedures
  • Produce electrical engineering documentation such as schematic drawings, harness drawings, design manual content, and operation and troubleshooting guides.
  • Manage one’s workload to ensure steady progress and timely completion.
  • Function as a productive member of product development teams.
  • Work on both electrical and mechanical aspects of the vehicle.
  • Work with both DC and AC electrical systems.
  • Develop engineering bills of materials that are complete, accurate, and on time.
  • Process approved engineering change requests.
  • Coordinate design requirements, application reviews, and engineering releases with selected suppliers.
  • Develop test requirements and coordinate component and system testing, including analysis of results and participation in the testing, as required.
  • Identify and implement design improvement projects directed at reducing cost and improving product performance.
  • Complete complex circuit analysis for responsible systems.
  • Provide support to Utilimaster production, customer service, and end-user mechanics for vehicle electrical systems.
  • Represent Utilimaster at industry and technical forums as required.
You'll typically work standard business hours, Monday - Friday. While you may have a project that requires extra time on occasion, for the most part, you'll enjoy a great work/life balance. Generally, you will work on one project at a time.  Quick question for you - click here
